Again, totally inoperative after two hours. This one went into the trash bin. I had it in my Camper along with a small personal fan and seemed to knock temps down about 3degrees which in my way of thinking was just fine. So with that being said I am thinking of purchasing another so I can have one cooler in the front of the camper and one in the back which should be fine.
The only issue I have is that it doesn't come with the ac adapter and you have to spend that extra 10 bucks. Bought this to use when electric goes off because of storms and used in later August, does not run very long on a set of batteries and does not cool an area like stated, if I would have known I would have bought two of the two cool fans instead as that works great! Tried one before departure and found that it did not cool one at all, just produced a moderate breeze. Tried it on a thermometer and it did not affect the temperature reading at all. I tested indoors and it worked okay (not great). Outdoors, it does not do squat!
It does help you cool down, but I only notice maybe a 10 degree change, not 30 degrees. I tried it outside, it helped keep me cooler, but in dry or high heat, the sponge doesn't stay wet for 8 hours...maybe 1-2 at the most. I just hope it has a nice long life so it'll last me the summer! I suffer from Hot Flashes induced by Cancer medications and HRT withdrawals; I found this product to be exactly what I need. Don't waste your money on this. It does not work. I've owned other tent fans but they didn't help cool the air much, but just circulate the hot air that is already in the tent. The batteries can be quite a problem because I go through a set (4 AA) a night.
We had to go out of town unexpectedly last week and with temperatures in the high nineties, we thought it would be a great time to utilize this gift to ensure our daughter's comfort. I tested it out the night before after charging it and it seemed to work great.
If you are used to living in hot environments, this is just a good-to-have. We share this amongst the family and my mom who is going through menopause loves it.
It's also nice to bring out to the park, but the batteries don't last more than 4 hours so be prepared to have a pack of AA batteries sitting at home. I work as a tour guide and the bus can often get hot as I only get to drive in one of those mini buses instead of the big fancy coaches. This (Handy Cooler Portable Air Conditioner) is like my new holy grail. It works so wonderfully and people keep asking me what it is and where I got it. It moves a lot more air and cools better, and it cost the same. The only reason I could see purchasing this item is if you need a portable battery operated fan, and in all honesty you could probably do better.
I paid pretty much the same if I had bought one from Amazon plus shipping. I managed to talk my buddy into getting one too so I won't be alone in the golf course using this funny looking device!
