Trestle tables are tables with non permanent legs, called a trestle, for support. A trestle is two triangular pieces of wood, metal or plastic attached by a support bar. The table top is supported by the legs. A good example of a trestle is a saw horse. With no legs being attached to the table, there is always the threat of the table top being knocked from the supports.

It is essential, if this type of table is used, that the top be set in place on the trestle legs with about a foot of overhang at each end. The table top must be placed on the middle of the trestle width. Individuals around or close to the table should take care not to lean on the table or lean on the end or edge of the table. That will eliminate the danger of the table turning up and inflicting injury to anybody near the table.

A trestle table is also a table supported by legs that are connected to the table but fold up to allow efficient storage of the table. The legs, when unfolded, normally lock in place to stop the legs from buckling or collapsing whilst the table is being used. Be sure to look at the placement of the legs before setting anything on the table. The manufacturer will designate a maximum weight that can safely be put on the table.

The trestle tables are often put to use for banquets or other temporary functions. They are employed in multifunctional halls and other venues whereby tables aren't usually necessary. The table itself is not fashionable without a covering, but it can be used without a covering for an informal occasion such as a picnic in the back yard or the park. Trestle tables can be used for events other than eating. They can be used in the garage to store items off the floor or as a work table in the craft room in the house. Trestle tables make great tables for yard sales as well as a sign in table at an indoor or outdoor event. Trestle banquet tables are light-weight and easily portable in the event a function is held in a location far away from where the tables may be stored. A standard length table up to 6 feet will certainly fit effortlessly into a vehicle that features a fold down back seat and trucks with a transport bed. Tables longer than 6 ft more than likely would require transport in a van or another type of truck or bound to the roof of a vehicle.

Trestle tables with attached or unattached legs should be considered for formal events with a table cloth discretely covering the legs with its length. The tables can be set up and taken down quickly, making preparation of the function facility efficient. Trestle tables are fairly inexpensive, but there are many sophisticated tables available at higher costs. Trestle tables are the type to buy if many are needed to be purchased to support functions with a huge amount of guests.
